Bumble Bee, Yavapai County, Arizona

There are several versions to “how Bumble Bee got its name.”  Two versions are around 1860, cavalry troopers named the area.  The third is, bees in the area attacked a prospector.  What ever is the real story, the creek became Bumble Bee Creek.

An early stage station stop between Prescott and Phoenix was Snyder’s Station on Bumble Bee Creek.  The locals named it for W.W. Snyder, a local rancher and horse breeder.  The post office was established at the stage stop in 1879.

It had a long history as a stage stop with a general store and the post office.  It has been long abandoned.

Post office opened February 3, 1879 as Bumblebee.
