Chives are small onion like plants (fig. 26) that will grow in
any place where onions do well. They are frequently planted as a
border, but are equally well adapted to culture in rows.
perennial, chives should be planted where they can be left for
more than one season. Chives may be started from either seed or
clumps of bulbs. Once established, some of the bulbs can be lifted
and moved to a new spot.
When left in the same place for several
years the plants become too thick; occasionally dividing and
resetting is desirable.
