Herb Grilled Chicken Drumsticks

Prep Time: 20 min.
Refrigerate Time: 3 hrs.
Grilling Time: 40 min.

Ingredients:

  • Marinade Ingredients:
    • 1/2  cup white wine or chicken broth
    • 1/3  cup vegetable oil
    • 1/4  cup chopped fresh basil leaves
    • 1/4  cup chopped green onions
    •    2  teaspoons finely chopped fresh garlic
    •    1  teaspoon sugar
    • 1/2  teaspoon salt
    • 1/2  teaspoon coarse ground pepper
  • Chicken Ingredients:
    •    3  pounds chicken drumsticks

Cooking Directions:

  1. To make the marinade, combine white wine (or chicken broth), vegetable oil, basil, green onions, garlic, sugar, salt, and pepper s in large resealable plastic food bag.

  2. Add chicken drumsticks and tightly seal bag.

  3. Turn bag several times to coat chicken well. 

  4. Place bag into 13x9-inch pan.

  5. Refrigerate, turning bag occasionally, at least 3 hours.

Heat gas grill on medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.

  1. Remove chicken from marinade. 

  2. Place marinade in 1-quart saucepan.

  3. Cook over medium-high heat until marinade comes to a boil; boil for 1 minute.

  4. Place chicken onto grill.

  5. Grill for 30 to 40 minutes, turning and basting occasionally with marinade, until chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear when pierced with a fork.

  6. Discard remaining marinade.

*Substitute 4 teaspoons dried basil leaves.
