Simply Delicious Basic Granola

Makes 12 cupsBreakfast & Brunch Recipes from AlansKitchn.com

Prep Time: 10 min.
Baking Time: 1 hr.

Ingredients:

  •    6  cups rolled oats

  •    2  cups (any combination) raw walnuts and sunflower seeds

  • 3/4  cup honey

  •    1  Tablespoon salt

  • 3/4  cup vegetable oil

  • 1/2  cup water

  •    3  teaspoons vanilla

  •    2  cups raisins

  •    2  cups toasted wheat germ

Directions:

Preheat oven to 300-degrees F.

  1. In a large bowl, mix oats, walnuts, sunflower seeds, honey, salt, vegetable oil, water, and vanilla.

  2. Spread a thin layer on cookie sheets or large baking pans. Bake for 1 hour.

  3. When cool, add the raisins and wheat germ.  Store in airtight container. (The granola will last longer if stored in the refrigerator.)

Kitchen Tip:
You can also add coconut, dried apricots, or dried apples.
