Walnut Cake
Ingredients:
- 1/2 - cup butter

1-1/2 - cups granulated sugar

4 - eggs

1/2 - cup milk

1 - teaspoon vanilla

1-3/4 - cups flour, sifted

1 - heaping teaspoon baking powder

1/4 - teaspoon salt
- Frosting
2 - cups brown sugar
-
2/3 - cup milk
-
1/4 - cup butter, size of walnut

1/2 - cup walnuts, chopped
Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease & flour 2 8-inch cake pans.
- Cream butter and sugar, add well-beaten eggs. Mix.
- Add milk and
vanilla and beat well.
- Sift in flour, baking powder, and salt.
- When
well blended add stiffly beaten egg whites.
- Pour into cake pans.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Cool.
- Cook sugar, milk, and butter together over low heat until creamy.

Remove from stove and beat until cool and thick.
- Add nuts.
- Spread on
cake.
- If you prefer, substitute pecans for walnuts.
