Alan's Favorite Cheeseburger

Makes 4 sandwichesAlan’s Favorite Cheeseburgers

Prep Time: 15 min.
Total Time: 25 min.

Ingredients

  • 1 - pound lean ground beef

  • 1/2 - teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 - teaspoon pepper

  • 4 - slices (3/4-ounce) White American Cheese, cut in half

  • 4 - leaf lettuce leaves

  • 4 - tomato slices

  • 8 - red onion rings

  • 4 - sesame seed hamburger buns

  • 4 - pickle slices

Directions

Preheat gas grill on medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.

  1. In a medium bowl combine ground beef, salt and pepper.  Mix lightly.  Form into 4 (1/2-inch thick) patties.  Place patties onto grill.  Grill for 12 to15 minutes, turning once, until internal temperature reaches at least 160° F. or until meat is no longer pink in center.  Top each burger with 2 halves cheese and let melt slightly.

  2. Meanwhile, place 1 leaf lettuce leaf, 1 slice tomato and 2 red onion rings onto each bottom half of bun.

  3. Place burgers onto prepared bun halves.  Top each with 1 slice pickle and top half of bun.
