The Biography: Fact or Fiction

Import to the Western are popular biographies of Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Buffalo Bill Cody, and the others make a unique role to the Western.  The 1800s historian Thomas Carlyle remarks, “History is the biography of great men.”  

Many of the major actors on the scene of westward expansion, such as General George Custer write in their memoirs, how important they are in deciding Western history.  Buffalo Bill famous remark, “ I stood between civilization and savagery most all my early days.”
