Aunt Alice’s Jumbo Raisin Cookies
2 - cups raisins
1 - cup water
cups all-purpose flour
1 - teaspoon baking powder
teaspoon baking soda
1 - teaspoon baking salt
1/2 - teaspoon nutmeg
1 - cup shortening
1-3/4 - cup sugar
2 - eggs
1 - teaspoon vanilla

1) In saucepan, add raisins and water. Bring
to a boil for 3 minutes. Cool but do not drain water.
In a bowl, add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt,
cinnamon, and nutmeg and sift together.
