Missouri Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 2 - cups milk, scalded
  • 1 - Tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 - cup sugar
  • 1/4 - teaspoon salt
  • 2 - cups bread or biscuit, diced
  • 1/2 - teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon
  • 4 - Tablespoons water
  • 1 - cup seedless raisins
  • 1/2 - cup heavy cream
  • 2 - eggs, separated, white beaten until stiff

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Grease baking dish.

  1. In your large mixing bowl, pour in milk.
  2. Stir in the butter, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add bread or biscuits.
  4. Soak for 1 hour or more.
  5. Next, stir in the nutmeg or cinnamon, water, raisins, cream, egg yolks, then fold in the egg whites.
  6. Put into baking dish.
  7. Set into pan of hot water, and bake 30 minutes.
  8. Serve hot with cream.
