Caramel Apple Dessert Squares
Makes 6 servings.

1-1/2 - cups Original Bisquick� mix
2/3 - cup granulated sugar
1/2 - cup milk
2 - medium cooking apples, peeled and sliced (2 cups)
1 - Tablespoon lemon juice
3/4 - cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 - teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 - cup boiling water
Sweetened whipped cream or ice cream, optional

Preheat oven to 350�F.

  • In a medium bowl, mix Bisquick and granulated sugar. 
  • Stir in milk until blended.
  • Pour batter into ungreased square pan, 9x9x2 inches. 
  • Top with apples; sprinkle with lemon juice. 
  • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. 
  • Sprinkle over apples. 
  • Pour boiling water over apples. 
  • Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 
  • Serve warm with whipped cream.
