Chocolate-Dipped Almond Horn Cookies

Ingredients:

  •    1  can Almond Paste
  •    3  egg whites
  • 1/2  cup sugar
  • 1/2  teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4  cup plus 2-Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2  cup sliced almonds
  •    5  squares (1-ounce each) semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F. and grease 2 cookie sheets.

  1. In a medium bowl, break almond paste into small pieces and place in bowl.
  2. Add egg whites, sugar, and almond extract.
  3. Beat until mixture is very smooth.
  4. Add flour and beat until blended.
  5. Spoon almond mixture into pastry bag fitted with /2-inch (#8) plain tip. Pipe mixture into 5 or 6-inch crescent shapes on prepared cookie sheets about 1-1/2 inches apart.
  6. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  7. Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until edges are golden.
  8. Cool cookie sheets on wire racks 2-minutes.
  9. Remove from cookie sheets and cool completely on wire racks.
  10. Dip ends of cookies in melted chocolate and place on sheet of foil.
  11. Let stand until chocolate is set.
