  • 1/2 - teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 - Tablespoon hot water
  • 1/2 - cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 - cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 - cup molasses
  • 2-1/2 - cup all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 - teaspoon salt
  • 1 - teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 - teaspoon ginger
  • 1 - egg

Directions

  1. In a small glass, dissolve baking soda in hot water. 

  2. In a medium mixing bowl, add the butter, brown sugar, and molasses. Mix. Add the soda water. 

  3. Sift in the flour, salt, cinnamon, and sugar. 

  4. Stir in the egg and beat for 5 minutes. 

  5. Form the dough in a ball and wrap with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator and chill overnight.

Preheat oven to 350� F.

  1. Next day, roll out dough very thin. 

  2. Using a cookie cutter cut out the cookies. 

  3. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and put into oven. 

  4. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
