Apple Sauce Cookies
Makes 28 Servings
Ingredients
- 1/2 - cup shortening

1 - cup sugar

1 - egg

1 - teaspoon vanilla extract

2 - cups flour, sifted

1 - teaspoon baking powder

1/2 - teaspoon baking soda

1/2 - teaspoon salt

1/2 - teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 - teaspoon nutmeg

1/3 - teaspoon cloves, ground

1 - cup apple sauce
Directions
Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease baking sheets.
- In a large mixing bowl, add shortening and cream.
- Gradually add
the sugar.
- Blend well.
- Add egg and vanilla extract.
- Beat until
fluffy.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt,
cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Alternate by adding the flour
mixture to shortening mixture, with apple sauce.
- Blend well.
- Drop
by heaping teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet.
- Keep dough
about two inches apart.
- Bake for 12 minutes or until edges brown.

Remove from sheet with spatula.
- Cool on wire rack.
