Makes 12 servings

- cup brown sugar
teaspoon powdered cinnamon
teaspoon powdered cloves

Preheat oven to
Cream the butter and sugar until smooth.
Stir in the ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
Add the remaining ingredients, mixing thoroughly.
Pour into a buttered 9-inch-square baking
pan and bake for 1 hour, or until cake testing comes out dry.
Cool on wire rack and then remove from pan. Serve with Nutmeg or Hard Sauce.
