Applesauce Cake

Cake Recipes from AlansKitchen.comMakes 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted

  •    3/4 teaspoon baking powder

  •    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  •       1 teaspoon salt

  •       1 teaspoon cinnamon

  •    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

  •    1/4 teaspoon cloves

  •    1/2 cup butter

  •    1/4 cup peanut butter

  •       1 cup sugar
  •       2 eggs
  •       2 cups applesauce

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F.  Grease the 8-inch layer cake pan with shortening and dust with flour to coat.

  1. In a mixing bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

  2. In another large mixing bowl, you want to cream butter with the peanut butter and sugar.  Beat in eggs (one at a time).   Cut your flour mixture into fourths and add 1/4 flour mixture into mixing bowl.  Add 1/2 cup of applesauce.  Add the next quarter flour mixture.

  3. Follow it by adding another 1/2 cup of applesauce.  Alternate this until all flour and applesauce is in mixing bowl.  Mix until smooth about two minutes. Pour into cake pan and bake 45 to 50 minutes.
