Norma's
Meat Loaf
Makes 6
servings
This is a recipe
Debi's mother handed down to her. No
matter how hard I work at it, Debi just makes better meat loaf than I do.
Maybe it is because its her mother's guiding her.
Ingredients:
Directions:
Preheat oven to
350° F.
-
In a large mixing
bowl,
combine the beef and pork in a bowl. Now
punch a whole in the middle of the ground meat.
-
Then add the onion, oats, breadcrumbs, celery, bell pepper, tomato
sauce, break in the egg, salt and pepper.
-
Now for the fun part,
(make sure your hands are clean), dig in a hand mix all ingredients.
You want everything evenly mixed.
-
Form the meat mixture into a loaf, and place in a greased loaf pan.
Place in preheated oven.
-
After baking
45 minutes,
you want to remove from oven and spread the ketchup over the top to form a
crust. Then return to oven and
finish baking.
-
Total baking
time is 1 to
1-1/2 hours. Let stand for 15
minutes and then remove from loaf pan.
Picnicking &
Tailgating:
It depends if you want
the meat loaf, hot or cold for your picnic.
If you desire it to be warm, wrap in aluminum foil, and place in a
heated thermal container. If
you desire it to be cold, wrap in aluminum foil, and chill in refrigerator. Place in a ice chest until you reach your picnic spot.
