Cinnamon Bread

Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 3 loaves.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 - cup soft butter
  • 1 - cup sugar
  • 2 - eggs (separated)
  • 4 - cups bread dough
  • 1/3 - cup raisins
  • Cinnamon – Sugar
    • 3 - Tablespoons sugar
    • 1 - teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 350° F.

  1. In a mixing bowl, add the butter, sugar, and whip until creamy. 
  2. Add the egg yolks and whip again until creamy. 
  3. Mix in the bread dough and add the raisins. 
  4. Beat the egg whites and fold into the dough mixture. 
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size.
  6. Remove from bowl and shape into loaves. 
  7. Place the dough in 3-greased (3-1/2 x 7-1/2 inch) loaf pans. 
  8. Brush top with melted butter and sprinkle cinnamon-sugar over tops. 
  9. Cover and let rise 30 minutes. 
  10. Bake in oven for 50 to 60 minutes.
