Breakfast Cake II

Makes 1 cake.Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.com

Ingredients:

  • 1 - cup sugar
  • 2 - Tablespoons shortening
  • 1/2 - teaspoon salt
  • 1 - cup milk
  • 2 - cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 - teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 - Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 - teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F. and grease four 7-inch pie pans.

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the sugar, shortening, salt, milk, flour and baking powder. Fill the pie pan with mixture.  Brush tops with butter. 

  2. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together.  Then sprinkle over the cakes. 

  3. Place in oven and bake 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
