Nut Bread I
Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 2 loaves

Ingredients

  • 3 - cups graham flour
  • 1 - cup whole-wheat flour
  • 4 - teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 - teaspoon salt
  • 1 - cup sugar
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 1 - Tablespoon table syrup
  • 1-1/2 - cup milk
  • 1 - cup walnuts, chopped

Directions

Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease and flour two loaf pans.

  1. In a mixing bowl, sift together the graham flour, whole-wheat, baking powder, salt, and sugar. 
  2. Mix sugar and eggs into the flour mixture. 
  3. Next, stir in the syrup and milk and mix all ingredients. 
  4. Dredge the walnuts in flour and add to the mixture. 
  5. Pour batter into two loaf pans (3-1/2 x 7-1/2 inches). 
  6. Let stand a few minutes to rise. 
  7. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes.
