Nut Bread II

Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 2 loaves

Ingredients:

  • 4 - cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 4 - teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 - teaspoon salt
  • 1 - cup butter, softened
  • 2 - cups sugar
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 2 - cups milk
  • 1 - cup mix nuts, chopped

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F.  Grease and flour 2 loaf pans.

  1. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. 

  2. In a small bowl, whip the butter and sugar until creamy.  Add the eggs to the creamy butter-sugar and whip until light and foamy. 

  3. Add to the flour mixture along with the milk.  Add in the butter-sugar mixture, then some milk alternating until all ingredients are mixed.

  4. In some flour, dredge the nuts and add to the batter. Pour batter into two loaf pans.  Bake for 50 minutes to 60 minutes.
