Nut Bread III

Makes 2 loavesPennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.com

Ingredients:

  • 4 - cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 - teaspoons rounded baking powder
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 1 - cup sugar
  • 2 - cups milk
  • 1/4 - teaspoon salt
  • 1 - cup walnuts, chopped
  • 3/4 - cup raisins

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F.  Grease and flour two loaf pans [3-1/2 x 7-1/2-inches].

  1. In a mixing bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder.  In a large mixing bowl, combine the egg, sugar, milk, and salt. 

  2. Add 2 cups of the flour mixture and stir the batter.  In to the flour-baking powder mixture, stir in the walnuts and raisins. 

  3. Then add walnut-flour mixture to the batter.  Pour batter into loaf pans. Let the batter rise 30 minutes and then bake 50 to 60 minutes.
