Makes 1 loaf.
- 1/2 - cup butter, softened
- 1 - cup brown sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 2 - cups all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 - teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 - teaspoon salt
- 1 - teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 - teaspoon cloves
- 1 - teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 - cup molasses
- 1/2 - cup water, boiling
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Grease loaf pan.
In a mixing bowl, whip butter and brown sugar to a creamy
mixture. Add the eggs and beat.
Sift together the flour, baking
soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. Combine the boiling water
and molasses and add to the mixture alternately with the sifted dry
Beat well. Pour batter into a loaf pan and bake for 40
minutes or until golden brown.
