Chocolate Cake

Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comIngredients:

  • Cake
    • 1 - egg
    • 1-1/2 - cups flour, sifted
    • 1 - cup sugar
    • 1/2 - teaspoon salt
    • 1 - cup sour milk
    • 1 - teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 - teaspoon vanilla
    • 2 - squares (2 oz.) chocolate
    • 1 - Tablespoon butter
  • Icing
    • 2 - squares chocolate
    • 1 - teaspoon butter
    • 2 - cups confectioners� sugar
    • Cream

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease & flour loaf cake pan.

  1. Mix beaten egg, sifted flour, sugar, and salt. 
  2. Mix together sour milk and soda. 
  3. Add to first mixture. 
  4. Melt the chocolate and butter in separate pan and add to the mixture. 
  5. Beat all together for 5 minutes, add vanilla.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes. 
  7. Cool.
  8. Melt chocolate, mix with butter. 
  9. Add enough cream with the sugar to spread easily. 
  10. Spread thickly on cake
