Hickory Nut Cake

  • 1 - cup butter
  • 1 - pound powdered sugar
  • 4 - eggs
  • 3 - cups flour
  • 1/4 - teaspoon salt
  • 2-1/2 - teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 - cup milk
  • 1 - cup hickory nutmeats
  • 1 - teaspoon almond or vanilla flavoring

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 F. Grease & flour 8-inch loaf pan.

  1. Cream butter and sugar, stir in beaten eggs.  Sift flour with salt and baking powder and add alternately with milk. 

  2. Flour the nutmeats lightly and fold into batter with 1 teaspoon almond or vanilla flavoring.  Bake for 10 minutes, raise heat to 350 F. and bake about 40 minutes longer. 

  3. Frost with Hickory Nut Icing.
