My Grandmother's Sponge Cake

  • 6 - eggs
  • 1/3 - cup water
  • 2 - cups sugar
  • 2 - cups flour

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 F.

  1. Separate eggs and stir yokes just enough to break skins.  Add water, stir in sifted sugar. 

  2. Beat until thick and lemon-colored.  Sift flour several times; add. 

  3. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.  Pour into ungreased loaf pan.

  4. Bake for about 60 minutes.
