Silver Cake

(To be made at same time as Gold Cake)

IngredientsPennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.com

  • 1 - cup butter
  • 2 - cups sugar
  • 3 - cups flour, sifted
  • 3 - teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 - teaspoon salt
  • 1 - cup milk
  • 1/2 - teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 - teaspoon almond extract
  • 8 - egg whites

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 F. Grease & flour large tube pan.

  1. Cream butter and sugar.  Sift flour 4 times and resift with baking powder and salt. 

  2. Sift into the bowl, stirring into batter little by little, alternating with milk and flavoring.  Mix well. 

  3. Beat whites of eggs stiffly and fold in.  Pour into lube pan.

  4. Bake for about 50 minutes.
