Candied Orange Peel

Ingredients:Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.com

  • Orange peel

  • 1/2 - cup water

  • 1 - cup sugar

  • Sugar

  • Melted chocolate (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cut orange peel into strips and drop it into a saucepan filled with water. Bring slowly to a boil. Remove from stove and drain orange peel. Repeat 4 times.

  2. Combine water and sugar and simmer together. Drop in the peel and simmer until orange peel as taken up all the syrup. Remove and cool.

  3. Roll pieces in sugar and spread on waxed paper until thoroughly dried. May be dipped in melted chocolate.
