Creamed Dates

Ingredients:Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.com

  • 1 - package dates

  • 2 - cups sugar

  • 1/2 - cup cold water

  • 1/4 - teaspoon cream tartar

  • 1 - teaspoon vanilla

  • Granulated sugar

Directions:

  1. Remove steams from dates. In a saucepan, boil sugar, water, and tartar. Do not stir.

  2. When mixture threads from spoon, remove from stove. Let stand for 5 minutes.

  3. Add vanilla and beat until thick and creamy.  Stuff the dates and roll in granulated sugar.
