Aunt Sue's Dandelion Wine

IngredientsPennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.com

  • 3 - quarts dandelion flowers, no stems
  • 2 - quarts cold water
  • 2 - pounds sugar
  • 1 - yeast cake
  • 2 - slices lemon

Directions

  1. Pour the water over the flowers and let stand in a large crock for 3 days and 3 nights. 

  2. Strain through a cloth, add sugar, yeast, and lemon.  Let stand 4 days and 4 nights. 

  3. Strain again and bottle.

(Make it in a cool place, to prevent fermentation" but "the older it is, the better it is!)
