- 3 - eggs
- 3 - cups flour
- 2 - cups milk, scalded and cooled
- 1 - yeast cake, dissolved in 1/2 cup
- lukewarm water
- 3/4 - cup butter
- 1/2 - cup sugar
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Let rise, covered, in a greased
Beat the eggs lightly, form into
paste with flour, milk, yeast-and-water, butter, and
Knead, let rise again. Place on floured board, shape
into long, narrow loaves.
Let rise in pans until doubled
in size. Bake for about 45 minutes.
When loaves are cooled, cut in diagonal slices about 1/2-inch
thick with sharp knife. Brown slices carefully in oven.
