Cabbage Roll-Ups
Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 - pounds ground beef

  • 1/2 - pound ground pork

  • 2 - slices bread

  • 3/4 - cup milk

  • 1/2 - cup onions, minced

  • 1/2 - cup ketchup

  • 2 - eggs, beaten

  • 1/2 - teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 - teaspoon pepper

  • 1/8 - teaspoon summer savory

  • 8 - cabbage leaves

Directions

Preheat oven to 400� F.

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix the beef and pork. 

  2. In another bowl, soak the bread in milk, and shred. 

  3. Mix bread into the meat, adding the onions, ketchup (reserving 2-tablespoons), eggs, salt, pepper, and summer savory. Mix.

  4. Drop cabbage leaves in boiling, salted water and cook until tender. 

  5. Remove and cool. 

  6. Fill with meat mixture, roll up, and fasten with toothpicks.

  7. Place in greased casserole, cover and bake for 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
