Meat Loaf
Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 - pounds ground beef

  • 1/2 - pound ground pork

  • 2 - slices bread

  • 3/4 - cup milk

  • 1/2 - cup onions, minced

  • 1/2 - cup ketchup

  • 2 - eggs, beaten

  • 1/2 - teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 - teaspoon pepper

  • 1/8 - teaspoon summer savory

  • 6 - sliced bacon

Directions

Preheat oven to 350� F.

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix the beef and pork. 

  2. In another bowl, soak the bread in milk, and shred. 

  3. Mix bread into the meat, adding the onions, ketchup (reserving 2-tablespoons), eggs, salt, pepper, and summer savory. Mix.

  4. Form into a loaf and place in a greased baking dish. 

  5. Spread the remaining ketchup over the top to form a crust. 

  6. Place the bacon over the top. 

  7. Bake for 1 to 1-1/2-hours.
