Lamb Stew

Ingredients:Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.com

Directions:

  1. In a skillet at moderate heat, add the bacon drippings and lamb.  Quickly brown the meat.

  2. Remove lamb from skillet and place in stockpot.  Add the water and dill and simmer 1 hour and 30 minutes or until meat is tender. 

  3. Remove the lamb and place on a platter to keep warm.  In the skillet with bacon drippings, sauté the mushrooms. 

  4. Add the sour cream, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. In a small bowl, combine flour and water to make a paste.  Reduce skillet to low heat, pour in the flour mixture, simmer 3 minutes, and stir frequently to blend the sauce.
