Holland House Ham Blanket

IngredientsPennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.com

2 - cups all-purpose flour, sifted
2 - Tablespoons water
1 - hickory-smoked ham [12 to 14 pounds
]

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 F.

  1. In a mixing bowl, make dough of flour and water.  On a floured board, roll out dough very thin, about a 1/4-inch thickness.

  2. Cover ham with the blanket, wrapping it completely so that the cooking retains all the natural juices.  Place in roasting pan and put into oven.

  3. Bake 1 hour and lower temperature to 325 F. and bake an additional 3 hours and 30 minutes or until tender.  When ready to serve, remove the blanket.
