Dried Snitz Pie

Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 1 (9-inch) pie
Prep Time: 20 min
Baking Time: 15 min + 30 min

Ingredients:

  • 2        cups dried apples
  • 1-1/4  cups warm water
  • 1        teaspoon lemon extract
  • 2/3     cup brown sugar
  • 1        double crust 9-inch unbaked shell

Directions.

Preheat oven to 425� F.

  1. In saucepan, soak apples in the warm water.
  2. Cooker over low heat until soft.
  3. Mash apples and add lemon and sugar.
  4. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Cover with top crust and seal edges.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes.

Reduce oven to 350� F.

  1. Bake for 30 minutes.
  2. Serve warm.
