Sour Cream Apple Pie

Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 1 (9-inch) pie
Prep Time: 20 min
Baking Time: 15 min + 30 min + 10 min

Ingredients:

  • 2        Tablespoons flour
  • 1/2     cup sugar
  • 1/4     teaspoon salt
  • 2-1/2  cups chopped, pared apples
  • 1        cup sour cream
  • 1        egg
  • 1-1/2  teaspoon vanilla
  • 1        (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
  •           Crumbs (see recipe below)

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Mix with apples.
  2. Pour into unbaked pie shell.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat sour cream, egg, and vanilla,
  4. Pour over apple mixture.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes.

Reduce oven to 350� F.

  1. Bake for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove from oven add sprinkle with crumb mixture.

Increase oven to 400� F.

  1. Return to oven and bake for 10 minutes.

Crumbs

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, and butter.
  2. Mix to form fine crumbs.
