Tzvivvelle Supp III

Makes 6 servings Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.com

Ingredients

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups yellow onions, chopped
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, blend the egg into the flour with a knife until small lumps or you form Rivvels. Set Rivvels aside.

  2. In a stockpot, heat at medium heat and melt butter. 

  3. Slowly cook onions until lightly browned, this may take 30 minutes. 

  4. Add the broth, bring mixture to a boil, and reduce heat to low. 

  5. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  6. Add salt and pepper.

  7. Rub in the Rivvels through the hands and let fall in flakes into the soup. 

  8. Simmer for 10 minutes or until Rivvels are cooked.
