Baked Apples

Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comIngredients:

  • 6   apples, cored and peeled top half
  • 6   cloves
  • 1   cup sugar
  • 6   scopes vanilla ice cream

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425� F.

  1. In a baking dish, place apples. 
  2. Cover with water to about a 1/3 of the apples. 
  3. Cover baking dish and place in oven to steam for 45 minutes or apples are tender. 
  4. Pour and reserve any water. 
  5. Add a clove to each apple and sprinkle with sugar, return to oven uncovered.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes and baste with reserved water. 
  7. Apples are done when crisp and golden brown. 
  8. Remove cloves and serve. 
  9. You can serve with ice cream.
