GERTRUDE'S BAKED BEANS

Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking from AlansKitchen.comMakes 25 servings

Ingredients:

  • 3 - pounds dried lima beans
  • 1 - can corn syrup
  • 1 - quart canned tomatoes
  • 1 - large yellow onion
  • 1 - teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 - pounds ham, cut into small pieces

Directions:

Preheat oven to 250° F.

  1. Soak the beans overnight and drain. 
  2. In a large bean pot, mix the lima beans, corn syrup, tomatoes, onion, dry mustard, and ham. 
  3. Place in oven and bake 6 hours. 
  4. There will be enough liquid to start the baking, however, add hot water from time to time.
