Old Kona Airport Park

Location: End of Kuakini Highway (Highway 11), Kailua-Kona.

Hours: Open daily, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.

Description: Effective January 1, 2008, the Department of Parks and Recreation, County of Hawai‘i will take over from the DLNR State Parks Division, the responsibilities of maintaining and managing the Old Kona Airport Park, including the rental of the large pavilion, beach park area and picnic pavilions.

Reservations for Old Kona Airport Park will now be handled by the Parks and Recreation Kona Permit Office located near the Kona Community Aquatic Center and Kekuaokalani Gym at 75-5530 Kuakini Highway, phone (808) 327-3560. Office hours are Mondays - Fridays, excluding holidays, from 7:45 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Beach park with picnicking, surfing, tidepooling, shore and spear fishing and other beach-related activities. Jogging path covering 0.8 mile loop. Special events pavilion for rental.
