Baker Creek State Park
is located adjacent to Lake Thurmond, near the town of McCormick in the
county of McCormick, South Carolina. The park sits on land leased in
1967 from the US Army Corps of Engineers.
Amenities in the park include two campgrounds, a
lakefront pavilion, boat ramps for access to the lake and picnic
shelters. The park is home to a nature trail where wildlife such as
deer, waterfowl and wild turkeys can be observed. Mountain biking and
hiking are popular activities on a 10 mile trail that winds through the
park.

Baker Creek State Park is closed for the Winter
season beginning December 1st 2008. The park will open for
Spring/Summer/Fall season on March 9th, 2009.

Branch State Recreation Area and Hickory Knob State Resort Park during
this time.

How about a secluded venue to enjoy nature? Baker Creek State Park,
located on the shores of Lake Thurmond, is the ideal location for a
lengthy camping trip or a relaxing swim.
Along with its campgrounds and lake access, Baker
Creek is also known for its 10-mile mountain bike trail, where riders
can test their skills as they enjoy the park’s stately pine forest.
The park also is a great place to observe wildlife, including waterfowl,
wild turkeys, deer and curious squirrels.
Baker Creek also has a large lakefront pavilion
ideal for family get-togethers and other gatherings. It’s also just a
few minutes from Hickory Knob State Resort Park, with its golf course,
restaurant and other full-service resort offerings.

FISHING
Fishing Information: Enjoy fishing in Strom Thurmond Lake for several
species of bass, crappie, catfish, bream and striper. A valid South
Carolina fishing license is required.
BOATING
Boating and Boat Access: Two boat ramps provide private boat access to
Strom Thurmond Lake.

TRAILS
Nature Trails: Baker Creek State Park offers a
