Cheese Melt Hot Dog
Makes 8 sandwiches.

6 - cup water
8 - Hot Dogs
8 - slices sourdough bread
2 - teaspoons butter or margarine, soften
1/4 - cup prepared mustard
8 - slices process American cheese
1/4 - cup butter or margarine, melted

  • In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil and add the hot dogs. 
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 5 to 8 minutes. 
  • Spread sourdough bread with butter (or margarine) and mustard.
  • Place bread slices on ungreased baking sheet and top each with cheese slice. 
  • Place hot dogs diagonally on the cheese. 
  • Fold bread over to form a triangle. 
  • Secure with wooden toothpicks. 
  • Brush with melted butter.
  • Place baking sheet under broil (or oven at 550°F.) 
  • Broil the sandwich for about 2 minutes or until golden brown.
