Homestyle Apple Brown Betty
Makes 6 servings.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: LOW 3 4 hours or HIGH 1-1/2 2 hours

6 - cups apples, peeled, cored and cut into slices
3 - cups bread crumbs
1/2 - cup brown sugar
1 - teaspoon cinnamon
1 - teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 - teaspoon salt
1/2 - cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4 - cup walnuts, finely chopped (optional)

  • In the 3-quart or larger slow cooker, lay the apples in the bottom.
  • In a mixing bowl, add the bread crumbs, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, brown sugar, butter and walnuts. 
  • Mix and spread mixture over the apples in the stoneware.
  • Cover cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours or on HIGH for 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
