Merlot
Pears
Makes 6 servings.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: HIGH 2 hours
Zest of 1 orange
1 - cup orange juice
4 - cups water
1 - bottle Merlot wine
1-1/2 - cup sugar
2 - cinnamon sticks
1 - Tablespoon whole cloves
1/4 - teaspoon ground nutmeg
6 - pears peeled, 1/4" cut off at bottom to flatten
- In the 3-quart or larger slow cooker,
add zest, orange juice, water, Merlot wine, sugar, cinnamon, cloves,
and nutmeg.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 1
hour. Add the pears to the slow cooker and cook for an additional 1
hour.
- Remove pears and strain liquid. Pour
the liquid over the pears. Serve chilled.
