Slow Cooker Recipes from AlansKitchen.comClassic Barbecue Ribs
Makes 6 servings

Prep Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: LOW 7 to 9 hours or HIGH 4 to 6 hours

Ingredients

  • Barbecue Sauce

    • 1/4 - cup canola or vegetable oil

    • 2 - small red onions, finely chopped

    • 3 or 4 - garlic cloves, peeled and minced

    • 1 - lemon, juiced

    • 1 - cup brown sugar, packed

    • 1/2 - cup cider vinegar

    • 1 - cup ketchup

    • 2 - Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

    • 1 - Tablespoon hot pepper sauce, or to taste

    • 1/2 - teaspoon chili powder

  • 2 - racks baby back ribs, cut into 3 or w pieces.

Directions

  1. In a large sauté pan, add oil. 

  2. Bring to a medium heat.

  3. Add onions and garlic.

  4. Sauté until softened and lightly browned.

  5. Stir in the lemon, brown sugar, vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce and chili powder.

  6. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  7. Remove and keep 1/2 barbecue sauce for serving.

  8. Pour barbecue sauce into slow cooker.

  9. Add ribs.

  10. Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 9 hours or on HIGH for 4 to 6 hours.

To serve, cut ribs between the bones and use reserved sauce.
