Beef Chowder
Soup, Stew & Chowder Recipes from AlansKitchen.com Makes 8 (1-cup) servings

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 2 hours

Ingredients

  • 2 - pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 - Tablespoons flour
  • 2 - Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 - package McCormick® Beef Stew Seasoning Mix
  • 2 - cups water
  • 1/2 - cup red wine
  • 1/4 - cup red wine vinegar
  • 6 - slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 - pound baby red potatoes, quartered
  • 1 - can (15-1/4 ounces) whole kernel corn
  • 1 - cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 - cup sliced celery

Directions

  1. Coat beef with flour. Heat oil in large saucepan or Dutch oven on medium heat. 
  2. Add beef in batches; brown beef on all sides. Drain. Return beef to saucepan.
  3. Add Seasoning Mix, water, wine, vinegar and crumbled bacon. Bring to boil. 
  4. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 1 hour.
  5. Add potatoes, corn, onion and celery. 
  6. Simmer 45 minutes or until potatoes are tender. 
  7. Thicken with flour, if desired.

Picnicking & Tailgating

Heat (on stove or in microwave) and pour into a thermos.  When you get to the picnic or tailgate site, just pour and enjoy.
