Ingredients:

Direction:

Preheat oven to 425° F.

  1. In a medium-mixing bowl, add the cornmeal, stir in the boiling water and shortening.
  2. Stir in the buttermilk, eggs, soda, and salt.  
  3. Beat thoroughly and turn into a well-greased, hot baking pan.  
  4. You want the batter to be 3/4-inch deep.
  5. Put into the oven.
  6. Bake 30 minutes. 
  7. Cut into squares and serve.
