Southern Home CookingAutumn Fruit Salad
Makes 8 to 10 servings

Prep Time: 15 min.
Cooling Time: 1 hr.

Ingredients:

  • Dressing:
    • 1-1/2 - cups sugar
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1-1/2 - cups water
    • 1 - teaspoon margarine
    • 1 - teaspoon vanilla
  • Salad:
    • 6 - cups apples, unpeeled & cubed
    • 2 - cups red grapes, halved
    • 1 - cup diced celery
    • 1 - cup walnuts

Directions:

Dressing

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar and flour. Stir in water and bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 15 minutes or until mixture thickens.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in margarine and vanilla
  3. Cool to room temperature for about 1/2 hour.

Salad

  1. In a large bowl, you want to combine apples, grapes, celery, and walnuts.
  2. Add dressing and toss gently.
  3. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
