Boynton Pass Spiced Apple Cider
Makes 8 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 - quart apple cider
- 1/3 - cup firmly packed brown
sugar
- 8 - whole allspice
- 8 - whole cloves
- 3 - cinnamon sticks
- 2 - thin slices gingerroot
- 1 - Orange
- 2 - Tablespoons raisins
Directions:
- Pour cider into a 3 to 4 quart
non - reactive pan. Next stir in the brown sugar.
- Into a 12 inch square
cheesecloth, place allspice, cloves, cinnamon sticks and
ginger root.
- Bring corners together and tie.
Drop spice bag into cider. Bring to a simmer.
- Cover and simmer 20 minutes.
Discard spice bag.
- Cut orange in half lengthwise,
then cut crosswise to make 1/8 – inch thick half slices
(discard ends).
- On bamboo skewers, thread
lengthwise 1 orange slice; skewer 4 or 5 raisins below orange
slice.
- Ladle hot cider into mugs or
cups and place a skewer of fruit in each.
