Grilled Jalapeno Cheeseburgers
Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 - pound lean ground beef
  • 2 - teaspoon fresh jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1-1/2 - teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/4 - cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 4 - thin tomato slices
  • 4 - hamburger buns, split, toasted

Directions:

Prepare a medium fire in your grill.

  1. In medium bowl, add ground beef, jalapeno pepper and chili powder. 
  2. Lightly mix but thoroughly. 
  3. Shape beef mixture into four 1/2-inch thick patties.
  4. Lay patties on grid over hot coals. 
  5. Grill uncovered for 14 to 16 minutes or until centers are no longer pink, turning once. 
  6. Check with a meat thermometer for an internal temperature of 160°F.
  7. About 1 minute before burgers are done, sprinkle each with 1 tablespoon cheese. 
  8. Place 1 slice tomato on bottom half of each bun and top with burger. 
  9. Close sandwiches and serve.
